"Preserve the past. Secure the future."
Bentley & Eckelkamp — known to clients across the Houston area as B&E — is an estate and elder law practice with offices in Sugar Land and the Houston West Loop. The work the firm does sits squarely in the most personal corner of legal practice: estate planning, probate, guardianships, elder care, and the kinds of family decisions that don't get made twice. The website had to do something most legal sites don't quite get right: feel as warm as the conversations the attorneys actually have, without giving up the credibility the work demands.
We rebuilt the site around that balance — and around the conversion path that turns a difficult late-night search into a scheduled consultation.

The challenge: serious work, sensitive moment, fast decision
Estate and elder law clients aren't shopping for a firm the way a commercial client might be. They're often making the decision in a difficult window — a recent diagnosis, a parent's transition, a sibling conflict, a quiet realization that the will needs to actually exist. They land on the site stressed. They leave the site if it makes them work for anything.
The firm's old presence didn't reflect the practice. The bar was specific: communicate decades of expertise without leaning on legalese, surface practice areas in plain language, make the consultation request frictionless on a phone, and project the kind of warmth that turns a first visit into a kept appointment.
The solution: a calm, structured site built around the consultation
A homepage that earns the next click
The hero — "Preserve the Past. Secure the Future." — sets the tone before the visitor reads a word of legal copy. Photography of the attorneys themselves, not stock, anchors the credibility above the fold. The "Schedule A Consultation" CTA sits in the header, in the hero, and at the bottom of every page. There's no missing it.
Practice-area architecture that respects the visitor
Estate planning, probate, guardianship, and elder law each get their own page, written in language a non-lawyer can read. The structure helps a stressed visitor self-identify ("this is what I'm dealing with") and confirm fit ("this firm handles cases like mine") before they pick up the phone or open the questionnaire.
Pre-consultation questionnaires for couples and individuals
Two intake forms — one for couples, one for individuals — collect the structured information the attorneys actually need before the first meeting. The firm walks into the consultation with the right context; the client walks in feeling heard. It's a small piece of operational design that compounds across hundreds of consultations a year.
Make-a-payment integration
Existing clients pay invoices online without leaving the brand experience. The path is short, the trust signals are right, and it removes the kind of friction that costs a small firm hours of phone time every week.
Mobile-first, fast, and accessible
The build assumes a phone is the primary device — because for this audience, it usually is. Tap targets are sized for thumbs, type is readable in any condition, and the page weight is low enough that an inconsistent connection doesn't compound the stress that brought the visitor to the site in the first place.
The outcome
The site reads as the practice it represents: serious, accessible, organized, and warm. Two locations are surfaced clearly for a metro that spans them. The consultation pathway is two taps deep on every screen size. Existing clients have a payment flow that respects their time. New clients arrive at the first meeting with structured intake already completed.
For an estate and elder law practice, the website's job is narrow and load-bearing: be there in the worst moment, look credible, and don't lose the lead. The B&E rebuild does all three.
