Like a bad houseguest, Hurricane Dolly arrived too early, stayed too long and left some headaches and a large bill to pay.

 

But despite Dolly battering and beating us up a bit, we were able to show our resiliency. Our servers stayed up through the entire onslaught, even with a sharp increase in traffic. Our network host at Rackspace lived up to its zero-downtime guarantee.

 

Rackspace handles all our live hosting duties, meaning they make sure your website is online and ready to be viewed by anyone with an Internet connection. This offsite facility is closely monitored by Rackspace staff and anything needing attention is quickly handled. Rackspace has contingencies set up for complete power outages and the environment is always clean and secure.

 

While our servers didn’t suffer even a knockdown from Dolly punches, our offices might have at least wobbled at the knees a little. A portion of the roof in the back of our building peeled off, causing a huge mess and water damage. More water damage was caused when a back window broke. The power was lost on Wednesday when Dolly first hit and was not restored until Sunday night.

 

But along with so many across the Rio Grande Valley, MPC Studios has cleaned up and is carrying on with business as usual. And it’s a credit to the tireless efforts of the MPC team that business as usual was able to come as quickly as it did.
